G, I love a good challenge. The semiconductor new orders data is released by the US Census Bureau in the Department of Commerce. This is part of their Manufacturer's Shipments, Inventories and Orders reports, released monthly. The data is old, as the August report contains information for the month of June.

That report is available here (http://www.census.gov/indicator/www/m3/index.htm). On the left you should see a link for Table 2 (Excel on the top and PDF below). You'll see that the number for semis is very volatile (-40, +34 and +3 for April, May and June, respectively).
