As far as I can discern the A4 and Tualatin are in the same ball park as far as power consumption. The difference is that Tooey is .13u and A4 is still .18u

Actually, it's a modified 0.18u process. Their Poly Layer is already at the 0.13u gate dimensions. I think AMD fans are in for a BIG disappointment when (someday) AMD manages to get their 0.13u Process working. By then, Northwood will already be being manufactured on it's first shrink, and that in conjunction with the added capacity of Fab22 will widen the speed and volume gap even further.

By the time AMD is able to get their difficult to manufacture, low yield, minor improvement, waste of time SOI process on line (if ever), intel will most likely also be producing McKinley on 0.13u.

Does it not occur to you why Ole Jerry Sanders seems to have been turning into a raving lunatic lately? Frustration.

He had his chance. He should have listened to Atiq, and gotten rid of that extra fab that he now says he doesn't need because 1 Fab can supply all that AMD needs. He could have put that money towards 0.13u and Hammer development, but instead his ego got in the way. It's a damn shame. Atiq could have brought real greatness to AMD, and really given intel some heartburn. Instead, they ended up with "Puppet Hector" (WHEW!). Heard much from "PuppetMan" lately? Me neither.

What was it they were so fond of saying about Otellini on that other thread?? Oh yeah.....

"Sanders Is Our Friend"

Thank God for Jerry staying on..... I don't want him to EVER leave...... Best thing that ever happened.... to intel.
