Emory,
Your logic is out of date:
>>This may be true, however --- For someone who:
1) has files that are larger than 1.44Mb (in other words for some applications they
would like larger capacity)
2) has a lot of information stored on 1.44 disks
3)is willing to replace their 1.44 drive for another that can read
1.44 and some larger capicaty

The LS-120 appears to be the only game in town.<<

1.44mb disks are used to transfer and distribute data, software and occasionally back up some crtical files.

Back in the days when a 40mb hard drive was the norm and software was distrubuted on floppies then your argument would have held water.

Nowadays, software is distributed on CDRom and over the internet. A 40mb hard drive is too small and any serious back ups are done on folders with considerably more than 1.44mb required. Hence the natural market for Zip and Jaz.

The only reason that floppies are still here is that they are so darn cheap that margins are not affected one way or another by inclusion or removal.

When the floppy ceases being useful to most users, as it is slowly becoming, then it will be left out of boxes. Sales of LS-120 will depend solely on whether people like its utility and speed so much that they can catch up with Zip and capture the market. Looking at the headstart that Zip has today, this is a most unlikely outcome in my opinion.

Good luck with your investments.

Paul.
