there is relatively less need for the Bush folks to talk to the
energy folks than, for example, the environmentalists or unionists in order to have
a full and balanced understanding of the issues.

Well, I don't know about that. All they need to do is read the NYT to know what the environmentalists and unionists think. But not what the energy folks think, or at least not presented in a balanced way. And if the NYT doesn't do it, they can be sure that the Democrats in Congress will make sure they know. In fact, it's virtually impossible to be even remotely aware of current events today and NOT have the media jam down your throat what the environmentalists and unionists believe.

Speaking of which, where is this global warming we've been promised for years? I realized that while ten years ago we had summers where I got good us out my short sleeved shirts, they haven't been out of my closet for the past two summers (except when I went to Texas). I mean, I like 70 degree summer days, but I wouldn't mind an 80 degree day once in a while. I didn't have a single day last summer when I could truly enjoy lying in the hammock under the trees. Same so far this summer.

Global warming pfui.
