Ray, luckily we have a way of correcting these excesses through voting in this country, but unfortunately it often lags the trends.

I was amused during the 90s about all the talk of the "cultural elite", a smokescreen, when the true elite - the economically elite - the corporate titans etc. - were raising their salaries, benefits, and golden parachutes to the point of such absurdity that it no longer seemed outrageous because we could no longer be shocked.

Absolutely, the risk takers and hard workers deserve rewards. But stacking Boards of Directors with only their own kind, and Wall Street analysts with unheard of conflicts of interest bafflegabbing (abbyjoegabbybaffling ?) the average joe, leads to the walling off from the realities of the other 95% of us. The cycle worm will turn again, but at what cost in accumulated damage ?
