I think one of the most unfortunate things about the bubble is that many people who started investing or speculating fairly late in the cycle and had their expectations dashed on the rocks by the reality of the meltdown will never come back to the market and try to invest on a more realistic and consistent long-term basis.

The bubble gave many people the idea that stock investing means putting some money into a tech stock and watching it triple in two months, rather than picking good funds or stocks and putting a few dollars into them each month for a period of years.
