Hi The Prophet; Re: "There's nothing wrong with being a communist. It's just that communism fails in the long run, as has been evidenced by history. Enjoy the short run. Life is inherently temporal."

I seem to recall that Communism fell because of economic realities. They had always promised their downtrodden losers that someday they would reach the promised land, at least materially. But instead of vacations in Cabo, what the leaders delivered was 4 cents per share. Most of the prosperity of the country had been destroyed by the cost of paying for all those lawyers to send to Afghanistan. For years everybody had thought that the regime was militarily powerful, but when actually put to the test, they were destroyed in their own backyard. I hear that the CIA had something to do with the whole thing. They used AMD as a front for TeamDDR.

So after they got involved in that stupid war that they couldn't win, management told the people that economic conditions were going to remain grim for the next three quarters. A lot of them just refused to support the regime anymore, and so it went bankrupt. Of course the smart ones had already escaped over the border to the United States, the land of free IP. In the end, the only ones who prospered from the Communist regime were the management, who awarded themselves medals and stock options, but left diddly for the masses. Right up until the end, however, there were always a few who really believed in Communism as an ideal.
