I wouldn't touch it. There is concern that they might pull a move like Trans Canada Pipelines and cut the dividend. From a news release
"TELUS updated its financial guidance for the full year, raising earnings expectations to 75 Canadian cents a share, up from previous guidance of 62-69 Canadian cents a share. Revenues are still expected to range between C$7.1 billion to C$7.3 billion, with capital expenditures of C$2.2 billion at the high end of a previous range."

The dividend is presently $1.40 per share.

If you are looking for a good dividend plus a chance for a capital gain increase take a look at USA.un on TSE. Yield is 9.51% and if the market turns around and heads back up the NAV of the underlying shares will push the price up nicely.

More info on usa.un and other issues similar can be obtained at quadravest.com

I have researched quite a bit so if you have any questions let me know.
