Unfortunately, I am not in a position to answer your question, since I don't think there is one

The question was, basically, how can parents best prepare children for and help them through the times of adolescent sexual decision-making. From there we went off on some quite absurd tangents, as seems traditional on SI.

Teenagers face situations where they will either have sex or not have sex. The question of whether this is a choice or a decision seems a bit peripheral to me. The question of whether the brain is prepared for the situation also seems peripheral, as it doesn't change the situation. My concern is how the parent can influence the outcome of the situation. I suspect it has more to do with psychology than neurobiology, and more to do with old-fashioned common-sense parenting than either.
