Pacific Century CyberWorks Ties Up With China's Legend 03/05/00 HONG KONG, CHINA, 2000 MAR 5 (NB) -- By Staff Reporter, IT Daily. Hong Kong-based Internet company Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW) has formed an alliance with China's number one computer distributor Legend to penetrate the broadband Internet market in China.
The agreement will also see PCCW’s NOW (Network of the World) interactive Internet service offered in the huge China consumer market.
Legend will design and manufacturer personal computers with a built-in cable modem that gives users broadband connectivity to the Internet, to be co-branded Legend-NOW.
PCCW will also establish a market development fund to promote the broadband services, access devices, and PCCW's NOW.
Legend's research and development team, with input from PCCW, will develop set-top-boxes with features specifically designed for the Chinese market. Both the PCs and set-top boxes will be sold through Legend's vast sales network of over 2,000 distributors.
