The Board of Directors of Hong Kong telecommunications provider Cable & Wireless HKT (C&W HKT) has appointed an independent committee of the Board to consider the terms of its merger with Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW). ING Barings Asia has been appointed as independent financial adviser to the independent committee. The independent committee will report its views to the Board of C&W HKT and to shareholders. The announcement came early last week that PCCW had offered to buy C&W HKT for HK$88 billion (US$11.31 billion) in cash.
