Yahoo, Microsoft Lead Hong Kong Web Properties 08/24/00 HONG KONG, CHINA, 2000 AUG 24 (NB) -- By Adam Creed, Newsbytes. Hong Kong-based Interactive Audience Measurement Asia (iamasia) has ranked Yahoo! Inc's Web properties top of the pile in a July survey of the most popular sites visited by Hong Kong home Internet users.

The survey measured the number of unique users across Web sites owned by the same company, and also expressed this as a proportion of total Hong Kong home Internet users (reach).

Yahoo sites had a reach of 62.5 percent with 1,034,000 unique users. The search and directory giant was closely followed by Microsoft Corp. [NASDAQ:MSFT] Web sites with a reach of 60.5 percent and 1 million unique users.

Local Web companies Pacific Century CyberWorks [NYSE:PCW], China.com corp. [NASDAQ:CHINA], Next Media Ltd, and Fortune City were also in the top ten along with AOL [NYSE:AOL] and NBC Internet.

The Hong Kong SAR Government's network of Web sites also made it into the top ten, with 25 percent reach and 413,000 unique users.

The survey was compiled from data collected from a panel of home Internet users in July.
