I do not discount the narcissism entirely. But it is remarkable: By the Sixties and Seventies, the world of our parents had almost disappeared, except as old movies. Meanwhile, the cultural matrix formed at that time still rides high: rock and roll was "here to stay", John Travolta is once more a star, and Star Wars can still command huge box office receipts.....
