>Our internal tests show an Athlon 1.3 equivalent to a P5 1.7 and web tests I've seen indicate Athlon 4 is 20% faster, clock for clock, than Athlon. So a 1.5GHZ Athlon 4 (which will be out when around the time P4 2GHZ is in out) will be as fast as a 2.15GHZ P4.<

Admittedly, Palomino is 20% faster than TBird on some tests. But typically a 1.2 GHz Palomino is only about as fast as a 1.4 GHz TBird, perhaps even as slow as a 1.333 GHz TBird. I would say that, on average, a 1.2 GHz Palomino will be about the same performance as a 1.6 GHz Willamette, and the 1.5 GHz Palomino will likely only be about as fast as a 2.0 GHz Willamette. Additionally, it will not be Willamette that Palomino (or more accurately Thoroughbred, since Palomino will be introduced so close to Thoroughbred, will be competing against in the public eye, but Northwood. I anticipate that the fastest shipping Northwood will have higher performance than the fastest shipping Thoroughbred. But, there is potential that AMD will once more take the performance crown with Barton.
