The United Nations was originally designed to be ignored by the free world. That's why the admission of an over-weighted contingent of Stalinist governments was not objected to. What difference would it make if the UN really had nothing to do any way? Throughout it's history, the UN has engaged in mischief in odd corners of the world. But in places where the serious shit hit the fan, they were always conspicuous by their absence: The Soviet supression of Hungary, Chezchoslavakia, Poland? Forget about it. Communist aggression in Africa and SE Asia? Nobody here but us chickens. OPEC holding the developed world hostage with an oil embargo? Don't make me laugh. Instead, we got constant bombast over Israel "occupying" the Sinai, West Bank, and Golan-like there's a Palistinian alive anywhere who should be in charge of anything.

Now its radical environmentalism and general hit-and-run against the developed nations, especially the US.

But, like I said, it's an organization that was designed to be ignored, and the world will always be better off as long as that's not forgotten...
