i think it was a slam too. she is talking about fanatic extremists and i don't think she means high praise by it. why doesn't she use crusaders who were more fanatical, brutal and violent and hacked off millions of people in the name of religion and destroyed Byzantium ? or she can also refer to west bank settlers who routinely invade more land and kill people who live on it. There are and have been a lot of religious fanatic extremists; using only one kind all the time to refer to an act is prejudiced and bigoted.
