People like gold because it is heavy, shiny, bright, a warm colour, smooth, cold to touch, easy to work and shape, and never corrodes.

It's the only thing for pretty things to adorn oneself, medallions or bright embossing on plates or print. No other metal compares for jewelry applications. Gold alloys well to improve appearance and corrosion resistance of other metals.
Its coating will protect and beautify.

Gold is also highly superior for long lasting, dependable electrical circuits. It is also preferred where circuitry that is very small, needs high trust contacts for very fast switching, has to be in long unattended environments or where critical dependability of all such circuits is paramount.

As a currency, it is compact and stores well and lasts. It is universally recognized for this and its value trades well anywhere. As a store of value and value comparator it has been and is more stable than most other commodities. As an investment it is protected historically against catastrophic collapse.

In short, gold is good.

Only morons and halfwits denigrate gold.
