Big division between haves and have-nots was pretty much global during that same time frame. Examples - European Jews - Rothschilds vs. peddler buying and selling cast-off linens British - Lord and Lady vs. flower girl in the alley USA - magnate vs. sharecropper "Chaos" means things are happening too fast to summarize easily. You could say that US residents lived in chaos due to the French-Indian War, American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War, Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, Viet-Nam - but unless you were a participant, life went on pretty much the same as always.
