Why is that? You're right -- I just don't get it. We are at a time and place where we can use these resources. 300 years from now, the resources will likely be of limited value. Why not use them now when we really need the stuff?

Well, perhaps I should clarify. What I meant was, "Other than to kill a few plants and animals that are no different from the corn we harvest and beef we slaughter each day. We need them, we use them for our own purposes. If it is necessary to kill a few thousand animals to better our own lives, we do it. I've swatted at least four or five flies sitting here today. What's the difference?".
