Re: new highs on the NASDAQ, when is "soon?" 2005 may be reasonable if you assume the universe of Nasdaq companies is static. But if you see Nasdaq as one of the most dynamic manifestations of the most dynamic economy on the planet, well... a lot can happen in four years.

I'm still a bull, don't get me wrong. 8)

I bet we see something in the range of 20% a year from current NASDAQ levels (but don't hold me to it as I really don't do market predictions). As you say, companies that do well will come out of nowhere and do much more, AMAT and others will do more and others will falter and bring down the average perhaps?

I've been putting some dollars into "the last mile" and it seems to me that this will have to be built out more before the fiber can see light. My guess is the last mile will be wireless... I saw some really cool technology for this back when HP and Agilent were one company... I remember I think it was Bill Tippet who talked about trying to buy GaAs companies that would benefit from this before the NASDAQ crashed... perhaps some good buys there these days? Agilent is one way to play it, but a more specific play might be worth looking into...

BTW, 4 yrs to get from 2100 to 5100 is 24.8% compounded....
