what if you bought QQQ for the NASDAQ? Should be close enough? Myself, I prefer individual companies as I don't trust analysts and manias. Until they do otherwise, my results show I should continue this way. :) I think your RR analogy is excellent. Same can be said for the auto industry or even airlines.
