short of locking the kids up until their brains are fully formed

Their bodies are capable of parentage at, what? about 11 or 12 years of age? So locking them up is definitely the best solution. Education should not be started in ANY subjects until about 26 years of age. It is important to wait until the neuronal pathways are thoroughly developed before any attempts at arithmetic, reading, or riting are introduced. What would be the point in attempting to inform an imperfect mind? Even when the minds are fully developed, they will still only exhibit an average I.Q., so the whole exercise of attempting to teach our children in a progressive developmental basis is just silly. Wait till they are FULLY developed. Time enough then to hand them a spoon. Of course, the fact that the practice of thinking and deciding is itself an intrinsic process, essential to the flowering of mature reasoning--may be conveniently ignored. Time enough to give a plant water once it has matured fully.
