Soros information was interesting- Thanks Pat! It has taken me a while to post this since reading all of his speeches, that you directed us to the other day. I just want to let you know, that many of your links are rich with information and depth of thought and I enjoy them thoroughly. The information you directed us to, on NEC and Multimedia in Asia, was great.

Soros sounds like an interesting man. I didn't know he had an economics degree. His theory on "True, False and Reflexive" made sense, and how human thinking affects reality. His efforts to open communications and societies is noteworthy. I am glad he is a solid backer of Amati and see's its potential to open societies around the world. I can't wait until HK Telecom helps to open up China with ADSL modems. I was reading a series of articles in the L.A. Times recently about Hong Kong going back under China. I believe it said 80% of the employees of Hong Kong firms already live and work in China. Hong Kong is the gateway to China for economics. The potential for economic growth if China opens up is huge.

It also said, that California has like 40% of its trade with China already. I hope I remembered these figures correctly, but the point is it sounded like Hong Kong could lead China into becoming a more open society. ADSL could help play a role in a major change. I am keeping my fingers crossed that China honors its commitment to a hands off policy on Hong Kong, and allows Hong Kong to pull China into the free world of economics and open societies.

Thanks again!
Joe
