In the last CC Intel said that the desktop Tualatin is being discontinued and that virtually all wafer starts are now for P4, except for mobile PIII-M.

Frankly I don't believe them. I think they are brow-beating OEMs into a massive P4 shift, but have a secret fallback plan as you said.
