How much would you like to pay for a TCP/IP stack? For an ascii editor? For a file manager? A tool that can format diskettes? Probably nothing. Because you can get it for free. It's the same with operating systems. When Linux/KDE or Linux/Gnome desktops have all the necessary features for a desktop, it will be implemented. Some companies have desktops on which KDE og Gnome does it good enough, and there are more and more companies that deploy Linux on the desktop.
