agree--"Love In The Ruins" & "The Moviegoer"...also, Richard Ford "The Sportswriter", though I don't know as I'd qualify any of these as "greatest book of the..."
Hemingway's written a few good books, as has Graham Greene. Also a big fan of Annie Proulx. I find Le Carre's writing very elegant and increasingly more soulful. Again, not nec. greatest book et al, just writers/books I enjoy.
