Not that I want to get into this debate, but middle managers have been taking it on the chin as far as lay-offs are concerned. Also hard hit have been technology professionals. A large percentage of the lay-offs announced since Christmas have been for highly paid tech types.

I wouldn't put any trust at all in the government's figures as they have been proven inaccurate many times over the last few years.
