That commencement speech is urban myth: Vonnegut never delivered it.

Vonnegut was great. He was one of the few writers who could get science evenly remotely right (his brother worked at GE research). Those 2 cat questions are both a Zen thing and a statement of the obvious. Schlachthaus fünf is his masterpiece, IMO.
