I don't think gold is toxic - unless you apply it like Goldfinger did to that poor girl in the movie.

I've seen a wine in a liquor store who's gimmick was it had flecks of real gold floating around in it. I have heard of fancy restaurants in the far east serving meals garnished with flakes of gold.
