IMHO, this market is going to need beaucoup assistance to make it through the fall without being ambushed. Unless the rate of lay-offs eases back considerably (and there is no sign of this so far), we will likely get smacked hard before Christmas.
Corporate capital spending is dead and we now rely on the consumer to carry the economic ball. Unfortunately, he is debted out. More lay-offs equals an expanding consumer purchasing strike. Yuk.
