Oregon Hub Handle Tops $13M for Quarter

The Oregon wagering hub first operated by NTRA Services and now in the hands of the TV Games Network handled $13,033,508 for the second quarter of this year, more than double the first-quarter handle and by far its best three months ever.
For the first quarter of 2001, the multi-jurisdictional hub handled $6,133,521. The second-quarter handle for this year is up 135% from the comparable period in 2000, the Oregon Racing Commission reported.
The commission said the hub, during April, May, and June, accepted wagers from six states -- Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Maryland. Indiana and Oklahoma weren't included during the first quarter of 2001.
The amount returned to bettors for the second quarter was $10.4 million, or 80% of the total; host and source-market fees returned to the industry were $1.56 million (12.2%); TVG earned $821,000 in revenue (6.3%); NTRA Services got $97,751 (0.75%); and the state of Oregon received $32,500 in taxes (0.25%).

Since TVG has never broken down financials of TVG, my guess is that it covers some 10-15 per cent of the costs of running the network. |
