I am in sheet metal. Industrial stuff mainly with spiral pipe and fittings. Big round stuff at the top of gym's etc. Just had a school bid north of here. The state put out a white sheet on it saying all contractors had to pay at least this wage and benefit package. 15.86 + 1.15 in benefits. Union from our new contract is 21.86 + 11.14 in benefits. You can probably see why a non union shop from over 250 miles away was able to take this very large job with a comfortable margin. You see the union won they get paid more, of course they don't have jobs but I am sure that is my fault somehow.
