LUKoil reports drop in net profit

MOSCOW - The largest Russian oil company LUKoil reported information
on its revenues in the first half of 2001. The company's revenues amounted
to 100.4 billion rubles ($3.43 billion) as compared to 110.666 billion ($3.78
billion) during the corresponding period in 2000.

The volume of pre-tax profit reached 23.321 billion rubles ($796 million) as
compared to 25.522 billion ($871 million) in the first half of 2000.

Profit tax payments and other similar payments amounted to 5.317 billion
($181 million) rubles as compared to 4.13 billion rubles ($141 million) in the
first six months of 2000. LUKoil's net profit reached about 18.31 billion
rubles ($625 million), which is 15.84 per cent less than in the first half of
