Buying companies where shares trade <cash value, where burn rate is low, and there is a viable product is less speculative than buying the big ones, waiting for the bottom:

case in point: takeover for EZE by COG

in a dead market, this is the second stock which I've held that has been the subject of a takeover (other was NAME, thank goodness I sold it before the merger).
