Hmmm. I don't go to many movies, but I read occasional reviews, and from what I see or read, while it's true there are a lot of sequels running around now, there are also some fairly innovative movies coming out. American Beauty. Matrix. Men in Black. None of them could really be considered tried and proven except in the vaguest sense that good story telling and great special effects are tried and proven, and we've known that since Midsummer Night's Dream was first put on in the Globe.

(Okay, some Shakespeare scholar will probably tell me that the Globe wasn't built until after MND came out. Tough. The point still stands.)
