Gartner, a global market research firm, predicts that the US economy will start showing positive signs of recovery by January 2002. Bob Hayward, senior vice-president, operations, Gartner Asia-Pacific, said, "The US slowdown is narrow, shallow and sectoral in nature. It is limited to a few industry segments. Moreover, no slowdown in the industry has lasted more than 14 months. The current recession has already been there for 10 months now."
His comments came as he delivered the keynote address at the second Gartner summit held in Delhi on August 7 and today. "We expect to see positive signs by January next year, which will, in turn, make a positive impact on the stock market and consumer confidence will go up again," he added.
