generic prayer before Congress seems more ritual than belief and not offensive if its general I agree with that and with you offense at the graduation prayer. When the prayer is simple and ritualistic, the prayer itself doesn't bother me. Nor does the tradition bother me. What bothers me is being dissed by those who would invoke the prayer with the assumption that there must be something wrong with anyone who wouldn't appreciate it. It's kind of like how blacks must feel when they see the Confederate flag. It reminds them of the disrespect. Regarding reality shows, I've watched all the episodes of Survivor. The cultural anthropologist in me is fascinated by the phenomenon. I've watched two or three episodes of Fear Factor and found them interesting but I don't really need to see any more. After all the promos, I eagerly anticipated Murder in a Small Town. I lasted maybe half an hour before writing that off as beyond stupid. I've never even looked at any of the others. I find Fear Factor interesting for the stunts and seeing if people will try them and can do them. Did you see the episode where people were climbing around on a wet car suspended from a crane? No way would I ever do that. Karen
