On the first point: the end of civilization, perhaps not. But something to deplore, well, yes...... On the second point: in the old days, prayer was supposed to be non- sectarian or, at least, have only a slight mark of origin, as ministers were rotated and such. You are right, the sort of prayer described is way out of line. On the other hand, if the ACLU weren't gunning for commencement benedictions, there would not be such a hot, defiant sentiment........
