And who could be stupid enough not to see the onerous and demeaning aspect of PUBLIC religious observances, to those of different, or agnostic or atheist beliefs? There is no nobility nor anything aesthetically pleasing in exclusionary practices, whether you use God to exclude or some more human agent. There is nothing beautiful in making people wonder if there jobs are in danger if they do not bow before a religious idea they do not embrace. That is ugly. It is unworthy of any decent God that such things should happen in his or her name. It is, of course, all too human.

This passage is another mealy mouthed liberal excuse for religious intolerance. I'm not religious but if someone wants to lead a prayer or invoke a higher power at any observance, public or private, like a football game or a staff meeting, I'm not offended or intimidated. I don't feel "excluded" becuase I choose to believe or not believe differently from others. I have not encountered any situations where I thought my job or some other benefit depended on joining a prayer and the law specifically forbids such practices. And I doubt either you or Karen have ever been suffered to wonder whether your job depended on such practices either. Moreover, the fact that I feel differently about public displays of religious faith has nothing to do with my overall intelligence or any other person who may feel as I do. I do find your statement to be indicative of a disturbing intolerance to deeply held religious views of others which is quite hypocritical from those who push tolerance for all manner of other "human rights".
