Thanks for the article. I was not saying that dividends are dead. In fact, I was implying that the article titled "Death of Dividends" was a perfect contrary indicator, just like the "Death of Equities" cover story in Business Week when we were about to embark on one of the greatest equity bull-markets ever, from 1982 to 2000.

Talking about dividend-paying companies, I am a fan of WRE, which has increased its dividend for 36 consecutive years now. A $10,000 investment in 1971 in WRE would have turned into over $1.6 million by the end of last year, largely because of re-invested dividends.

Long live dividends! May the real companies (i.e. those that pay dividends and increase them every year) prosper and may the impostors vanish!
