Wetlands under attack by Bush Administration.

The Army Corps of Engineers, which is supposed to protect wetlands, is proposing rule changes which would make it easier for developers to eliminate wetlands. These rules would give developers the ability to destroy up to 300 feet of a stream without federal supervision and would free developers from a requirement they restore or create 1 acre of wetland for every acre they destroy. Wetlands are valuable ecosystems which shelter wildlife and absorb floodwaters. The nation's wetlands continue to decline.
