Once the price drop hits, I expect the 1.5GHz Pentium 4 to cost around $130, and the 1.7GHz speed grade costing around $190, but not before. You seem to have this assumption that OEM are getting Pentium 4 chips from Intel for the low price $100, even though there is no evidence to support this outside of some hearsay from Taiwanese tier-3/4 vendors. And those guys are no doubt looking for someone to blame because of the current lack of demand in the industry.

Of course, you do have a point about grey market activity, but I think you are exaggerating just how big it is. Personally, I think 1.3GHz is a bad example, since many vendors are looking to dump their 1.3GHz inventory (that speed grade will soon be phased out). But if you look at the 1.4GHz part, you'll find that there are only 14 vendors on Pricewatch that are selling the 1.4GHz Pentium 4 under the $193 price that Intel has posted on their web site. I'm also guessing that some of these places had additional discounts due to the purchase of >10ku. If poor Pentium 4 sales forced several OEMs to relieve themselves of much of their inventory, there would be a much larger grey market than this.
