Dave, Mac Office was/is very profitable for Microsoft. They would have been shooting themselves in the foot if they had dropped it. Microsoft's Mac business by itself was bigger than a lot of software companies. I do recall (correct me if my memory is faulty) that ahead of either the Power Mac or the System 7 launch Quark declared the Mac had no future and suggested that its user base and other software developers shift to Windows. So guess who's layout software didn't get pushed by Apple?
