Book to Bill of the German semiconductor market

driving downhill, hitting new record lows

In June semiconductor revenues in Germany achieved a new record low: The incoming orders were clearly below the previous month levels and with –10% also under the last year's month for the first time in 2001.

Frankfurt am Main: - a sad record: in June the Book-to-Bill ratio, the medium-term trend indicator, as determined by the ZVEI, sagged to a value of just 0.66. Since the highest levels in the spring last year the indicator has lost two thirds.

The June semiconductors revenues in Germany were lower than in May, with orders again falling significantly. First half-year revenues in Germany were up 7% on the year-to-year basis.

The speed of downtrend increased: the correction of the 2001 predictions, already suggested by ZVEI, will be sharper than expected. The one-digit range has already been achieved - a market slump is according to the newest data inevitable . Furthermore, according to ZVEI,the current drop exceeds by far anything seen so far.
