M A R K E T .. S N A P S H O T -- Shares set for some upside

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- The market is looking to post some modest gains at the open Friday ahead of the wholesale inflation report.

The July producer price index is seen declining 0.3 percent. The core, which excludes the food and energy components, is expected to edge up 0.1 percent. and economic calendar and forecasts.

The Nasdaq, meanwhile, will be looking to break its five-day losing streak.

Checking action in the futures markets, September S&P 500 futures added 2.00 points, or 0.2 percent, and were trading about 2.90 points above fair value, according to HL Camp & Co. And Nasdaq futures edged up 0.50 point.

Over in the government bond arena, prices traded mixed. The 10-year Treasury note was up 3/32 to yield ($TNX) 5.03 percent while the 30-year government bond added 1/8 to yield ($TYX) 5.525 percent.

In the currency sector, dollar/yen added 0.4 percent to 122.26 while euro/dollar edged up 0.1 percent to 0.8932.
