Now here's an analyst who gets my attention. For investors loaded up in software...this is not good.
>08:01 ET Goldman Cuts Software : Goldman Sachs analyst Rick Sherlund cutting numbers on software sector; says street estimates don't yet capture magnitude IT spending constraints, particularly given anecdotes from Europe. For Oracle (ORCL 15.99), cuts database server growth to -5% from flat for Aug qtr, applications to flat from 5% (vs Oracle's 15% guidance), FY02 EPS cut to $0.46 from $0.48 (consensus is $0.50), EPS cut mitigated by cost control. For Siebel (SEBL 29.77), cuts FY01 to $0.56 from $0.60 and FY02 to $0.60 from $0.70 (consensus estimates are $0.59 and $0.73).
