It's human nature, Max. I don't see it as evil.

They make their money on people being in the market or trading. They are irresistibly inclined to want the markets to get better. It' s in the mutual fund manager's interest to keep you in. If they're taking 1% of your assets a year, a drop of 10% in your portfolio is only .1% to them.

You ever study any of Gurdjieff's (sp?) teachings? He asks the simple question. How could a religion (Christianity) based on the precepts of love, tolerance, and forbearance have ended up doing the unspeakable things it has done?

The same answer to that question applies to how the investment community based on giving good advice ended up being such a bunch of liars.
