I don't believe I've ever heard anyone scream out in debate- "You bunch of ... CHRISTIANS". And I am pretty sure no one would say "You bunch of JEWS." And there is no reason to scream out "You bunch of Hindus" because as far as I know there aren't any in congress. I wonder what insinuations and insults we could find? The moral majority got insulted a lot (My personal favorite? The Moral Majority is NEITHER). But they had identified themselves as believing certain political things based on religious doctrine. I don't remember anyone insulting them for being Christians- but I remember plenty of other insults, direct and pointed insults that cut to the core of their issues. And it's all about issues and in THIS case atheism is NOT the issue. Atheism is not really related to stem cell research. Nor are atheists really the kind of folks it is easy to define. They don't generally group- unlike folks like the moral majority members who were all to groupy.
