re. Funny I don't remember you clamoring to change the rating system when AMD had the Mhz lead. Then it made sense, right?

To be fair I think you'll have to admit that at that time AMD's Athlon also had an advantage in IPC over the PIII (or at least was equal to it). A higher clocked processor actually meant more performance then and there was no need for a rating system. Today an Athlon is faster than a P4 compared clock per clock and AMD has a very tough time ahead in convincing people that MHz alone doesn't determine the performance of processors. They really need some very clever and smart advertising campaign to make that
clear the average Joe Consumer (doesn't mean that I want them to pull dirty advertising tricks though).
