There's nothing there...that's why the whole "government debt is being retired" argument for tax cuts was fallacious...there was no surplus, it was all being drawn off the so-called SS trust. No assets there that can be identified as such...just huge and growing liabilities. Privitization would have made sense in 1935, now it's a bit late (and getting later every day). The best solution is to phase out SS all together, increase allowances for deductible IRA's and let Americans save their own way out of the mess (as if....)
